In 2022, a total of 4.65 billion active users were registered on social networks, representing approximately 58.7% of the world population. An increase of 7.5% per year is estimated, increasing at a rate of around 326 million users per year. It is estimated that the average internet user uses approximately 7.4 social network platforms per month.

As of October 2019, only 3.9 billion people worldwide were considered social media users. In October 2021, that number increased by almost 1 billion people, representing 4.65 billion world inhabitants.

Reasons to Use Social Networks:

Approximately 48% of internet users between the ages of 16 and 64 state that keeping in touch with friends and family is their main reason for using social media. On the other hand, around 37% of users state they use social media to occupy their free time. The remaining users affirm that their reasons vary from watching fun and entertaining content, to making new contacts, following sports events, and working, among other reasons.
