TikTok is a social network based on the creation of short videos which are shared publicly with the entire network, or privately with a user’s followers. This application allows you to make videos with a duration of 3, 15, 60, or 180 seconds.
TikTok began gaining popularity in 2018, when it became available in over 150 countries and 75 languages. Currently, TikTok has more than 500 million users.
To use TikTok, you have to download the application on your cell phone or tablet. It is available in iOS and Android versions. Once you have downloaded it and created an account, you will be redirected to your “for you” page, where you will find top posts from popular profiles which you can follow.
Each video includes the option to like, share, leave a comment, or save the audio.
To record your own TikTok video, you click on the plus sign (+) on the bottom of the main screen. After doing so, a window will open and you will have the option to add music or sounds, activate a filter, timer, or change the playback speed.
At a time when the social media world was becoming saturated, TikTok was as a breath of fresh air. It is exceptionally user and people-oriented. The TikTok community reacts in an agile and positive way to most publications — videos are seen quickly, and view numbers are higher than on other platforms.
